Addiction services are provided in a continuously changing and complex environment. The addiction professional must be able to respond to these changing needs and demands.
Aim of Course: The Applied Addiction Studies programme aims to address the needs of people working with addiction.
The four strands of each year will:
Provide students with a framework for understanding addiction, both from an individual and social context
Develop an understanding of treatment and intervention approaches
Develop skills and competencies in all areas of addiction work
Promote the understanding and values of reflective practice and evidence –based practice
Who is this course intended for?
Addiction workers from Outreach, needle exchange, keyworkers, community work, voluntary sector, residential rehabilitation services, Inter-agency approach, family support services; and professionals from health care settings, prison and probation workers, social care workers, community care workers, education professionals.
